Hello,
I've searched through these forums and found that others are dealing with this issue too, but I still haven't found a workaround for my settings being overwritten. I start my servers through the CMD file and that works fine without overwriting my files, but any time there is a mod update or steam update (which is like every 2 days), I have to update through ASM, and that means having to overwrite my INI files.
Is there no good workaround to this? I can use CMD to start and make the files "read-only," but then updates give me an error, and the only way to update is to remove the "read-only" setting. I'm really not sure why ASM is like this, I just want to use my own INI files without having to manually set up all the files every 2 days, it's just not feasible for a big server.
Any ideas or advice is appreciated.

I think I had the same issue happen a couple days ago. My recommendation would be to save a copy of the profiles in another folder so that if something happens you can just import the profile to restore your settings. You can find the profile files under \Ark Server\Profiles. You can determine which guid belongs to which profile by hovering the mouse over the server tab in ASM.

This is what we've been doing, it's just too much of a hassle, I'm so confused why there isn't a setting to just not overwrite my files, it would save an insane amount of time. It even wants to overwrite my files when it updates a mod, which makes absolutely NO sense. Do you know of another way to do updates without overwriting?

Fortunately I've only had my settings wiped one time so I haven't had to figure out another way to prevent it. Going forward I'm just going to have a backup settings folder with all the .profile files renamed for their respective maps. I'm guessing that a dev would have to chime in to see whether there are any other options.

Still no feedback about this. It is completely stupid why ASM do not simply read the game.ini and gameusersettings.ini and apply them. I'm always copy / pasting this 2 files to my server folder and restarting ASM, but ASM is always erasing both files! Makes no sense. losing a lot time everytime i format my windows machine! Any solution?
