I am making this post as my friend who hosts the server doesn't want to. My friend recently started hosting a server using asm and it worked fine, however; in the last few days every time he has tried to launch it even with a clean install of both ark and asm with attempts on 2 different machines, he always gets an error "SteamSocketsOpenSource: gethostname failed ()" then the server stops and never goes up. He was afraid to post here because he thought it would get tagged as "not an asm problem" and it would get ignored. The latest post anywhere about this error doing what it is doing now was 4 years ago. I would like help so my friends and I can play ark again.

zcey1, The above is not an issue. This started happened way back when ark was released on the EPIC store. This should not be the cause of the problem. My suggestion would be to check the ark logs and the windows event viewer to see if there are any errors. The server should not just shutdown like that, but I do know that the last few updates from Wildcard have had issues, so you may want to check the ark forums as well to see if there is anything reported over there.
