Return to Top - How do I update ASM?
- When there is an update to ASM there will be a green notification in the upper left of the window next to your current version. Just click the link and it will automatically download and install the update. If that fails just download the latest release and extract it to your asm directory and allow it to overwrite when it asks.

Return to Top - Why isn't the newest dino(s) in ASM yet?
- ASM doesn't get insider information on ARK so we have to wait until the Dev Kit for ARK gets updated for the correct names to be used.Just an FYI guys, DO NOT expect an ASM release just after an ARK release. The ARK devs provide little to no information on server settings, dino information and the like.
The only way we are able to update ASM is gathering information through the steam forums, the UE4 forums and the DevKit which is updated whenever they feel like it. When we do get the information it take time to implement into ASM and test it. If we did not test it thoroughly enough and it caused problems, then we get hammered by you telling us it does not work.
New updates to ASM are a privilege NOT A RIGHT! It will be updated whenever we can get around to it and no amount of asking or pestering us will make it go any further. We do this for the love of the game, we do not get paid for it and take time out of our lives to make yours easier.
I am working as hard and as fast as I can to make sure ASM stays current, gets all the updates in a timely manner and also includes fixes or enhancements requested by the forum members.
I am not a fan of people who whine all the time about things not being done and they themselves do nothing to help. To me they are takers and not givers.
My soap box moment over!
Return to Top - Why can't players find my ark?
- Make sure you are forwarding ports 7777, and 27015 (both TCP and UDP). You can also enable raw sockets to allow easier connectivity and forward port 7778 (both TCP and UDP). At the top of ASM it gives you the IP address that you should give them.
- If you are on the same network as the server you will use your network LAN IP (usually 192.168.*.*). For players outside your network give them your public WAN IP (found at the top of ASM) and your Query Port (usually 27015).
- If you are connecting to a server on the same machine try connecting to 127.0.0.1 or localhost
- If the server is taking to long with "Waiting for publication" have your friend open the Steam Server Browser (found under View -> Servers) and click the Favorites tab and on the lower right click ADD A SERVER. Have them enter in your server IP (public WAN IP if out of your network, network LAN IP if inside your network) like ***.***.***.***:27015. From there they should instantly see your server then start ark change search to favorites and click to join.
- Also create an account at arkservers.net and post your server(s) If you are hosting multiple servers add 1 to each port per server... so #1 is 27015, #2 is 27016, #3 is 27017 etc. and follow the same pattern for each port of each server.
- If you have an IP address that is constantly changing you can use www.noip.com and give them the address from there once it is fully setup. (FAQ #14 also covers Dynamic IPs)
- arkservermanager.freeforums.net/thread/1038/ports-info
- www.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php Use Advanced, connect(), Don't Ping, UDP Scan. This tool works for me.
- www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ May or may not report correctly.Public IP aka WAN (Wide Area Network) IP is your IP in relation to the internet (google.com = 172.217.3.174)
Private IP aka LAN (Local Area Network) IP is your IP in relation to your local network usually 192.168.*.* or 10.0.0.*
MultiHome is ARK's way of talking to computers in your LAN because IP addresses can't talk to themselves and you can't connect to a server using your WAN because it would mirror into both client and server so the client would be blind.
Return to Top - Why can't players join my ARK?
- Check settings that cause a lot of initial lag (like 'Force Dino Respawn'). These are fine to use just wait for the server to finish before joining.
- Using mods might be freezing your server during the initial load. Check the workshop page for all mods to check for incompatibility, green mods (mods that don't modify core files) are recommended.
- Check port forwarding to make sure you have everything setup
- If you are trying to join a server on your LAN use the server's LAN IP otherwise use the server's WAN IP. FAQ #7
Return to Top - Why does ASM say waiting for publication?
- ASM uses different services to see if your server is published. This is not a definite indication players will or won't be able to join, it is more of a helpful indicator. Players can join as soon as your server is fully loaded.
Return to Top - How do I install mods on ASM?
- In Steam Workshop Subscribe to your mod. I will be using this mod as an example steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=601893934. Notice the end of the URL is id=601893934. This is the Mod ID. In ASM under Administration -> Maps and Mods -> Mod IDs insert all mod IDs with commas (,) separating them no spaces. Once you subscribe to the mod steam starts downloading the mod into ARK. Once Steam is done downloading run your ARK to extract and install the mod, you will notice the activity in the lower right corner. Once ARK is done exit ARK. Navigate to your ARK Mods folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Content\Mods). In here you will see files and folders with different mod IDs. You need to copy the entire Mods folder into your server in the same relative spot (%ArkServerFolder%\ShooterGame\Content\Mods). Once all of the files are copied and you have all of the IDs in ASM you will be able to run your server with the mods.
- arkservermanager.freeforums.net/thread/450/add-mods-maps-ark-location
Return to Top - How do I install maps on ASM?
Follow the same directions for installing mods. Once everything is copied READ the workshop page for the Map Name and put that into the Map or Map Mod Path. Sometime the Mod ID also works here.
Return to Top - Does ASM automatically update mods?
- IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are using the ASM updater TURN OFF the Official ARK Settings -> Auto manage mods when server launches. We suggest NEVER use this option because all it does is force a mod reinstall EACH time the server starts, so it will create havoc with load times and mod settings.
- In the main ASM window click the gear in the upper right corner.
There is a new section called Mod Update Settings.
Turn on Update mods when updating.
(the two force options will NOT do a smart copy, it will remove the old mod folder and write the new one, good for corrupt files)
If you have any mods that are private (not available to the public at large) then you will need to provide your login creds to allow ASM to access those files.
Close the Settings Window and in the main ASM window scroll to Automatic Management.
Turn on the option Include server in the Auto-Update cycle.
- For a second option visit here arkservermanager.freeforums.net/thread/966/tool-ark-mod-copy
Return to Top - What is the math for the new dino stats?
- I hope this helps steamcommunity.com and steamcommunity.com
TL:DR
[Base Stat] - The starting stat (think level 1)
Wild Dino Per-Level Stat Multipliers - [Wild Stat] - Basic stat increase
Tamed Dino Per-Level Stat Multipliers - [Tame Stat] - Basic stat increase
Tamed Dino Per-Level Add Stat Multipliers - [Add Stat] - Bonus stat increase
Tamed Dino Per-Level Affinity Stat Multipliers - [Affinity Stat] - How effective the stat works
Wild Dino Stat = [Base Stat] + ([Level Increased] * [Wild Stat])
Tamed Dino Stat = [Base Stat] + (([Level Increased] * [Tame Stat] + [Add Stat]) * [Affinity Stat])
Please correct me if I am wrong but that is how I understand it.
The Ark devs made it so it is less effective to dump all of your points into one stat
Return to Top - I have a Dynamic (constantly changing) IP, how can I get an IP that is static (won't change) so it can be favorited/bookmarked?
- Use www.noip.com/sign-up. Their service will link your friends to the correct ip automatically.
- How NoIP works is they assign you a static domain name and you run an app on your server to tell NoIP how to find your server. The setup takes 2 minutes tops and after it is set you should have minimal issues keeping your IP the same just give out the NoIP domain name. Their site has better instruction on install and setup.
Return to Top - Why are players timing out when connecting to my modded server?
-There are two possibilities. First the mods on the server are causing lag so it takes longer than usual to connect.
- Second, if the player doesn't have all of the mods installed before attempting to connect ARK will download and install them automatically. Because of this they will usually timeout and have to try to connect multiple times until all of the mods are installed. I recommend supplying a mods collection for them to subscribe to, steam makes this easy.

Return to Top - Why are my super leveled dino's stats getting reset after server restart?
- ARK only allows 255 levels to be put into any one attributeFeb 8, 2016 13:56:11 GMT -5 @anoobis said:jet... I have confirmed your findings in that if you level up a dino stat, one stat, beyond 255 levels it will be reduced after a server restart.Yes I am making the edits in ASM, not manually. Thank you very much for the responses, but I have found the solution. I will post the solution so if anyone needs the answer it is here. The error in my server lies in the level cap I have placed, and a cap to the Dino's levels.
My server has a bonus level cap of 800 for Dinos, and my issue was that when members of my server put alot of points into their dino (Say 600 points into melee, 100 into health, 100 into weight) they would find that upon server restart, their Dino's would have lost almost all of their melee damage. So (For exaggerated example) a 320k damage rex, would have only 15k after server restart.
It turns out that due to limitations in the game, each Dino stat (Health, Stamina, Weight, etc.) have a 'cap' of 255 levels, this is because when the 256th level is added, the counter resets, reduces the stat by 256 levels, and goes back to the base melee damage.
So if you put 600 levels into melee, that is beyond 512 (multiple of 256) so the counter resets twice, so instead of having melee worth 600 levels, it only has 600-512= 88 levels worth of melee damage. Long story short, dont put more than 255 levels into a single stat.
Maybe this was already known, or it was a simple fact of the game that alluded me, but thank you for your attempts at helping a perplexed server host.
This is more of an FYI to anyone finding this thread.
Return to Top - How do I get BattleEye Protection to work in ASM?
- Enable the option "Enable BattleEys Anti-Cheat System" under Administartion -> Server Options
Return to Top - How do I verify my server's files?
- While the server is stopped click the upgrade button. If there is an upgrade ASM will apply the update. If there is no update ASM will verify your server files, will take a few minutes to complete.
Return to Top - Why can't I connect to a server that is on my LAN?
- You need to look for your server under the LAN option in ark. When using a link that uses your WAN IP your ARK won't connect because both computers use the same WAN IPs but separate LAN IPs.
- If you are connecting to a server on the same machine try connecting to 127.0.0.1 or localhost, you could also try looking in ARK under LAN, or maybe My Survivors.
- Also see FAQ #7 for more information.
Return to Top - My server no longer auto updates, what should I do?
- Always check your logs and see if there is an indicator there. Most often it is because there is a lock file error. To fix this you will need to end the task or delete the task, then clean out your update folder, lastly reset your updates in ASM and your server should be updating again!
- Another thing to check is that the Task created for the updating, with TaskManager, still exists and is working. A clue would be to look at the LastRunResults column. But, if the Task didn't run, this isn't the fault of ASM. Look to the task itself and diagnose the issue!
Return to Top - Why are my custom changes to the INI files getting removed when I start my server with ASM?
- ASM saves all of your current settings before you launch the server.
ASM does not overwrite the entire GameUserSettings.ini file. The only sections within the GameUserSettings.ini files it changes are the following
[ServerSettings]
SessionSettings]
[/Script/Engine.GameSession]
[MultiHome]
[MessageOfTheDay]
I currently run a server with 20+ mods and some of them require additional entries to be put into the GameUserSettings.ini file. I have done this and use ASM to start my server without any problems AT ALL.
In my opinion if a mod includes it's own settings in one of the ARK server sections listed above then THEY ARE JUST PLAIN LAZY! They should be creating their own section like the other mods do and read from them.
As for the Game.ini file, there is currently only 1 section - [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]. ASM has full control over this section as it is an ARK default section. If you need to include entries in this file under this section they will be removed. ASM makes no apology for this as ASM controls this section of the file.
My only suggestion for you if you use mods by LAZY devs and they include options in the ASM control sections, use the DefaultGame.ini and DefaultGameUserSettings.ini files to record them. This has been suggested in these forums in the past and reported to work by the members that implemented the solutions.
With a little bit of investigation of the forums and patience you would have found the solution without reverting to 'I can no longer use ASM anymore because i have to use some stuff in my "gameusersettings.ini" which isn't in the ASM'
In order to use custom INI changes in areas ASM changes you will need to run your server through a CMD file. The easy way to do this is:Mar 8, 2016 20:32:09 GMT -5 bletch said:
I just want to point out that as part of ASM a .cmd file is created each time ASM performs a save. This file is located in the 'ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowsServer' folder and is called RunServer.cmd.
This file is constantly maintained by ASM to include all the arguments that are selected in ASM.
If the user double clicks this file, it should start the server without ASM, but uses all the options that were set in ASM. This might be a better way as if you change something in ASM (like adding/removing a mod, or changing a setting that modifies the command line) the next time they run the server via the cmd file, those changes will be included.
It is hard for the user to determine what needs to be updated if they manage the batch file themselves.
Also this cmd file I speak of it the same one that is used to start the server after the auto update of the server is performed.
Return to Top - What is the best way to edit the INI files?
- bletch said it best:here are the changes I wanted to make to gameusersettings.ini
[JurassicArk]
ElectricFenceDmg=3000
SmallElectricFenceDmg=3000
Then in game.ini i was to add this....
DinoSpawnWeightMultipliers=(DinoNameTag=MegaGigant,
SpawnWeightMultiplier=10.0,
OverrideSpawnLimitPercentage=true,
SpawnLimitPercentage=0.5)
DinoSpawnWeightMultipliers=(DinoNameTag=MegaRex,
SpawnWeightMultiplier=10.0,
OverrideSpawnLimitPercentage=true,
SpawnLimitPercentage=0.5)
You have two files to update, so I will suggest a solution for each separately.
Before you do anything, make sure your ARK server is shutdown, close everything.
All manual changes to the game.ini or gameusersettings.ini you will need that section enabled (example: engrams) in ASM first.
Save ASM then shut down ASM.
Add your edits to the correct section save it and then restart ASM and they should then get added alphabetically to the ASM list per section they deal with.
Location
ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowsServer
gameusersettings.ini
0. Make sure ASM is shutdown when editing INI files.
1. Locate the gameusersettings.ini file of the ARK server you want to edit and open in a text editor.
2. Go to the bottom of the file, and paste in your settings. Make sure there is a blank line before the [JurassicArk] line.
[JurassicArk]
ElectricFenceDmg=3000
SmallElectricFenceDmg=3000
3. Save the file and close it.
game.ini
These settings you want to add cannot be included in this file as ASM will strip them out, as ASM has no understanding of the creatures. So instead, you need to locate the game.ini file. This file should be located under the same location.
0. Make sure ASM is shutdown when editing INI files.
1. Locate the game.ini file of the ARK server you want to edit and open in a text editor.
2. After the last entry in that section, paste your dino lines
DinoSpawnWeightMultipliers=(DinoNameTag=MegaGigant,SpawnWeightMultiplier=10.0,OverrideSpawnLimitPercentage=true,SpawnLimitPercentage=0.5)
DinoSpawnWeightMultipliers=(DinoNameTag=MegaRex,SpawnWeightMultiplier=10.0,OverrideSpawnLimitPercentage=true,SpawnLimitPercentage=0.5)
3. Save the file and close it.
The next step is to open ASM and change to your server profile.
1. Click the save button.
2. Open the gameusersettings.ini file for that server again.
3. Check to see if the entries you adding in the first part still exist. They may not be at the very bottom of the file as ASM does re-write entries into this file. I have noticed that the MotD section does move to the bottom of the file.
If everything went well, you should still have your JurassicArk entries.
If the section is missing, let me know. Do not go any further.
4. Using ASM start your ARK server.
5. Check to see if your settings work. This is something you need to do yourself as I do not run either of those mods.
Please let us know how you go.

Return to Top - How can I change the Language/Locale of my ARK server (does not work with ASM)?
- (from Beals ) You can directly override the language by using the following startup commandline
"-culture=en" (for dedicated servers, etc, where 'en' is one of the language codes listed below):
English: en
German: de
French: fr
Italian: it
Spanish: es
Simplified Chinese: zh
Traditional Chinese: zh-TW
Russian: ru
Thai (NEW!): th
Japanese (WIP): ja
Polish (NEW!): pl
Danish (NEW!): da
Dutch (NEW!): nl
Swedish (NEW!): sv

Brazilian Portugese: pt_BR
Return to Top - My server/client isn't updating to the current version no matter how many times I update/validate...
- Regarding patches:
Sometimes the hotfixes '.*' do not report their versions correctly, it could be for different reasons. It could be a client only OR server only patch where small changes were made.
ASM reads the version number from the version.txt file in the ARK Server. This file is maintained by Wildcard and is supposed to be the current version, though it often isn't correct (hence the necessity of this explanation). If you run your server you should see the version number for the server in the command window. @anoobis has provided some screenshots. Notice that ASM is reporting what is in the Version.TXT file and the server is reporting a different number. Even the ARK Client is able to see the correct version number.
As long as you have updated the server and players are able to join then there is no need to worry. If there are issues then click the update button and ASM will attempt to update ARK. If there are no updates then ASM will run a validation to make sure your server files match the ones that are on Steam.
After validation is done and you are still having connection issues please attempt to validate your game files. If this still doesn't fix the issues let us know and we can help troubleshoot them with you.
Return to Top - My Server was working now it isn't, what should I do?
- Follow this checklist (check everything AGAIN):- Check Port Forwarding, sometimes IP addresses change to prevent it set your server's IP in your router's DHCP.
- Check Firewalls, sometimes software updates change settings.
- Check ALL logs, sometimes server errors don't result in a complete crash but your logs should tell all.
- Check Mod Versions, with Steam able to update clients as soon as a new version is pushed out this can cause connection issues.
- Check Server Version, ARK updates can be 3 different types (client, server, both) so version number isn't the only way to tell your server is current.
- Check Server Integrity, Validating server files can sometimes fine corrupt or missing files.
- Check for any Typos, Missing commas (like when adding mods), misspelled maps or periods can cause bad things to happen.
Return to Top - How do I get Structures to be Auto-Destroyed?Under the structures section, near the bottom is a slider option called 'Auto Destroy Old Structure Multiplier".
By default it should be set to 0, which means disable. If you set this to a value of say 1, then after the building is marked as Destroyable, a count down starts for auto destroy. This is a multiplier and I think it works off the destroy time, this I am not 100% sure about.
I have only used on PvE server, but I think it works in PvP as well.
Please be careful with this option, it is BRUTAL. If you create a base in 2 different locations, you need to visit each base within the destroy time frame to reset the counter. If you leave your visit to long, your base can be auto destroyed.
Also if people are not regulars on your server, that are casual, then they must be made aware as they could log in and their base is gone.
I hope this helps you.

Return to Top - How can I setup Azure Virtual Machine to run multiple servers?
- Read this thread arkservermanager.freeforums.net/thread/1305/azure-server-setup-windows-datacenter for the full conversation or just this snippit for the key steps:Sry for my late answer. Description (howto) is for the new portal.azure.com
First: English isn't my mother language. Sorry if something isn't correct. If you have questions, just ask.
If the Server is a Classic version, then just click on the VM. Then you can see the menu button for endpoint settings on the Right.
Click on it. Now you can Select Add on the upper region. Here we go, there you can setup the ports.
Screenshot:
Now to the part for non-classic VM. It's a littlebit different.
First select your VM, then click on Network interface. There you select your interace.
Then click on Network Security Group.
Screen:
There you need to select your group, 3 tabs will open. On the third, you can select Inbound and Outbound.
Chose the inbound and click add. Here you can setup your ports. Outbound isn't needed to get a working package flow. But you can set there also the same ports if you want.
Any Questions? Just ask
Return to Top - How do I change the localization language in ASM?
- Check out jinnai 's workaround to force ASM to english:Same problem here. Got forced to German. Was happy first, then i found out that the German localisation is even missing some check box descriptions as far as i remember.
You can use a workaround for your problem by following these steps :
1) Locate your ARK Server Tool folder.
2) Go for Folder : Globalization\en-US
3) Copy File en-US.xaml to Folder : Globalization\de-DE
4) Rename the copied File to : de-DE.xaml
Your ASM is now back in English.
Return to Top - Why are there two options to start RCON / I am having issues connecting with RCON:
- ASM has TWO ways to startup RCON:
1) The first being at the top right of the ASM window (looks like a mini command prompt). This link is for remoting into a server that is not located on the same PC as ASM. To use this link you will need to know the server's public IP (the localhost ip [127.0.0.1] will not work correctly), RCON Port, and Admin Password.
2) The second is next to the Start/Stop button (it also has an icon of a Command Prompt and says RCON {crazy right}). This link is able to pull all of the information needed to connect directly from ASM. This is the preferred way to connect to your ARK RCON server if it is on the same PC as ASM.
- Thanks to mrfrosty & @anoobis for this clarification about RCON
Return to Top - I started my server with ASM and after restarting ASM it says my server is stopped even though the server is still running. How do I fix this?
- This is a known issue with ASM. When a server is started while ASM is running with Elevated Privileges (Running as Admin) the server is also ran with the same protected privileges. If you restart ASM without Admin then the server process is hidden from ASM. To fix this restart ASM with Admin Privileges, or better yet Always Run as Admin.

It doesn't have a tooltip that says it will shut the server down every hour to check for an update, I assume it would check the cached updated files prior to restarting the server to see if there was an actual update?
1. Server cache update
This part checks steam to see if a new version is available, if so, it will download the new version into the server cache folder as per your settings.
2. Mod cache update
This part checks steam to see if a new version of your mods is available, if so, it will download the new version into the mod cache folder.
3. Server update of server files and mod files.
This step is only performed if there are server or mod changes. A new log file is created for each server to tell you what is changing.
Return to Top - How do I add Gmail to ASM for server notifications
- You will need to insert a few settings into the SMTP Email Setting found inside the Settings Window (gear icon).
Host: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587
ENABLE Use SSL
Username: {INSERT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS}
Password: {PASSWORD FOR YOUR EMAIL}
From: {INSERT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS}

If the email was not sent check the Gmail account that is sending the email. If Gmail has sent you an email that looks like this
go to support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en and follow their instructions to enable less secure apps.
Test again, if there isn't an email send double check your settings. If you still can't get it to work check your router and firewalls to see if any of them are disabling SMTP or port 587. If you still can't get it to work create a support zip by clicking the Create Support Zip button (yellow file icon nest to the Upgrade button) and include it when creating a support thread.
Return to Top - Where did all of the arguments go when starting my server?
- We have noticed a lot of issues (arguments working randomly) when too many arguments are passed to the server through the command-line. The reason for this problem is Wildcard designed the server to get most of the arguments from the GameUserSettings.INI. If the server has an argument being passed through the command line THAT argument takes precedent over what is in the GUS.INI (sometimes). So if there happens to be two instances of the same command it is difficult to tell which command will take precedence. To remedy this ASM writes MOST arguments to your INI files to ensure your server will run the same way on each execution.
Return to Top - My RCON isn't connecting to my server, how can I fix it?
- This sometimes happens when there is a problem with your profile. See FAQ #27 on how to fix your profile.
- Other times it could be from a problem with one of your mods. See FAQ #36 on how to fix your mods.
Return to Top - How can I fix broken mods OR mods that don't fully download?
- The common reason for this issue is because SteamCMD sometimes becomes finicky/corrupted. There is a simple fix for this:
1. Shutdown your server (Always do this when changing anything with your server)
2. Open ASM
3. Click the Steam icon in the upper right. This will delete your SteamCMD folder and reinstall a fresh copy.
4. Verify your server after SteamCMD is done reinstalling.
5. Open ASM settings (cog wheel icon in the upper right)
6. Inside Mod Update Settings (for now) turn on the top 3 settings [Update mods when updating, Force mod file downloads, Force mod file copying]
7. Close ASM Settings
8. Inside ASM click the green up arrow found next to the Mod IDs field
9. After the update process completes Verify your server files one more time.
10. After verifying is done you can disable the two 'Force mod *' settings in the ASM settings window
11. Save your ASM settings
12. Start your server
Return to Top - How do I create a server cluster using ASM?
Admin Section of ASM:
1. Create a Cross-ARK data Transfer ClusterID (unique to you and no special characters; i.e \ / : * ? " < > |)
2. Place a check mark in Cluster Directory Override
Rules Section of ASM:
3. Place a check mark in Enable Tribute Downloads
4. Place a check mark in No Transfer from Filtering
This allows you to have a cluster, transfer between your clustered maps, but only allow characters/dinos to be transferred from within the ClusterID you specified previously. Meaning, no one can download a character/dino from outside of your cluster.
- Beals created an easy video that explains everything (slightly outdated but the concept is the point) : arkservermanager.freeforums.net/post/14430/thread
-Return to Top - How do I add Admin players and always allow them to join?
- If you have RCON enabled you can find the players in the RCON window and add them to the appropriate files.
- As per Wildcard developer (https://steamcommunity.com/app/346110/discussions/0/594820656443498361/) these are the steps:As an admin with cheats enabled, use the following console commands:
cheat AllowPlayerToJoinNoCheck SteamID
cheat DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheck SteamID
(Where SteamID is their numeric ID. Also then you can manually edit this file that will be generated: \ARK\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64\PlayersJoinNoCheckList.txt )
Next week we'll have a proper in-game server administration UI to aid in all this
- You can create an AllowedCheaterSteamIDs.txt save the steam ids for allowed Admins (one per line) and place it in your server save folder example: C:\servers\oneark\ShooterGame\Saved (credit to Beals , edited for content)

Return to Top - Can you better explain how Structure Decays work?I've seen that there is still confusion about how to use structure decay. I want to try to give a little explaination on how to set it up.
So there are a lot of settings you'll need to be aware of to enable structure decay.
Dino Settings:
Disable Dino Decay PvE
PvE Dino Decay Period
Structures
Enable PvP Structure Decay
Enable PvE Structure Decay
Structure Decay Period
Structure Decay Multiplier
Auto Destroy Structures
Auto Destroy Old Structures Multiplier
Only Auto Destroy Core Structures
Only Decay Unsnapped Core Structures
Fast Decay Unsnapped Core Structures
I'll split the explaination in 3 categories - 1: PvE - 2: PvP - 3: Optional Settings
I won't explain how to use Dino Decay. I highly recommend to keep it deactivated, because it's causing issues sometimes.
1: PvE
To activate the structure decay on a PvE Server, you'll need to check "Enable PvE Structure Decay". Skip the "Structure Decay Period" and keep it "0". Then you can change the "Structure Decay Multiplier" to increase or decrease the decay timer. Higher values increase the time, lower values decrease it.
i.e. if you set the "Structure Decay Multiplier" to 1, then you'll have the following result:
Thatch - 4 Days
Wood - 8 Days
Stone - 12 Days
Metal - 16 Days
Warning: Always check mod structures and greenhouse too! They may have different timers. Mods like Structure Plus usually refer to the standard timers so there should be no difference. But keep an eye on it!
2: PvP
To activate the structure decay on a PvP Server, you'll need to check "Enable PvP Structure Decay" AND "Enable PvE Structure Decay". It makes no sense, but it's the only way to get it working.
3: Optinal Settings
All of the following settings are optional. You can use them in PvE and PvP.
Auto Destroy Structures
-> Keep it "0"
Auto Destroy Old Structures Multiplier
-> Keep it "1" - As soon as a timer expires and you'll leave the chunk where the structures are located, the server will remove them. If you change the value, this might not work anymore and will start an additional timer instead.
Only Auto Destroy Core Structures
Only Decay Unsnapped Core Structures
-> Only unsnapped pillars and foundations will decay.
Fast Decay Unsnapped Core Structures -> Unsnapped pillars and foundations will decay with 5x speed.
Return to Top - Why aren't large mods updating on ASM?
Large mods, Extinction Core for example, do not always update like they should. This is because SteamCMD, the mechanism used by ASM to update mods, has a low TTL threshold value. For a detailed explanation, please visit steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/817096835/152391995405518177/
-Try to run the update again (several times if you have to)
-Try updating during off-peak hours
-Manually copy over mod from client to server:- Stop your ARK server.
- Locate mod on client, <steam directory>\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Content\mods\<MOD ID>.
- Copy entire directory.
- Locate mod on server, <server directory>\ShooterGame\Content\mods\<MOD ID>.
- Paste copied content into server directory. Overwrite all content.
- Open ASM (if not already open) and navigate to the Mod IDs section.
- Click on View mod details button (magnifying glass to the right).
- In Mod Details window click on the button to the far right. This will update the timestamp in the file ASM uses to determine if it is up-to-date.
- Close the Mod Details window.
- Save your settings.
- My question isn't on this FAQ what do I do?
- Use this link to search this forum to see if your question has been posted before. Try using 2 to 4 words to describe your problem for the most results
- Also visit the How to center for guides.
OK, I have read this FAQ, searched the How to center and there are no other posts already made about my problem.
How do I get my question answered quickly?
Information is key. Provide as much detail of the problem as possible. Post screenshots of any errors AND your ASM setup (blackout any information you don't want public like passwords). Post the list of mods you are using and the version of ASM and ARK. Anything that could be related... post it
I will edit this FAQ as more common questions are answered or brought to my attention.
I invite you to post any suggestions to be added to this page.
